Bits of Faith

This page is where words of faith and stories, inspired by the Holy Spirit, will be shared.  This page will update periodically, so please feel free to check back often.

I also struggle with self pity here lately.  I see others having it better and easier than myself, and I get angry sometimes.  I see some people that don't seem to love the Lord, get blessed, and I get aggrivated often. Self-pity is a destructive force in a person's life because it fails to acknowledge God's goodness with a grateful heart. The Hebrew nation's constant grumbling is a prime example (Psalm 106:25). For over 470 years, they cried out to God for a deliverer to rescue them from bondage in Egypt. When deliverance finally came and Moses led them to the Promised Land, they continued to complain, even to the point of longing to go back to Egypt. Although God had proven Himself mighty with miracles and provisions, they failed to be thankful for His loving hand of protection.

What about you? If the demands of life have you down, stop your personal pity party and think again about what the Lord has done. Yes, your days might be busy, but God has blessed you with incredible opportunities to change the world through your life. Let praise and thankfulness replace your "poor me's" and watch as God blesses your faithfulness in serving Him. "I will bless the LORD at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth." (Psalm 34:1)

Forgive my selfishness when I fail to appreciate all that You have given to our family. Lift my heart today and help me to focus on those things in life that are truly important. In Jesus' name, Amen.

I struggle with this often, due to a tragic event that has caused me to suffer great loss over many years.  So I will leave this here in hopes that it will help me as well.

Do you ever battle depression?  You know what?  You are not alone!  Most everyone does, but how they handle it or deal with it can be 100% different for YOU!

I'm telling you, depression is a good ole' trick used by Satan to make you think that life is not 'good' or 'worth it.'  Well, he's a liar (John 8:44)! (read James 4:7) He is here to kill steal and destroy (John 10:10) you and God's plan for your life!  Don't let him do it!!  God is so much greater!  He sent Jesus so that YOU could have life and have it more abundantly (   )!!  You may be looking at everything around you and thinking there is nothing abundant about my life except for 'bad circumstances!'  Well, the fact you are reading this is PLENTY to rejoice over!  Do you know there are folks out there that can not see?!  I know of a person right now that is losing their eye sight after having it all of his life!  So rejoice you can see and read!  And join us in prayer for the man we know that needs healing and restoration for his eyes!

Honestly, life will have difficult times (   ), God told us it would.  But please focus on the WHOLE picture, ok?  This life we are in now is a 'passing' moment in the entire life that the Lord has for us once you accept him as Lord and Savior.  Seriously think about it for a moment.  You WILL have a job to do once you are in Heaven and you WILL be with not only those you love dearly that love the Lord, but you will also be with folks that are loving and kind....all working together for the good of Him that they serve!

So, try a smile right now....put one on your face.  Come on!  You can do it.  It doesn't hurt.  And then think about the intense love that the Lord has for you and the mansion He has prepared for you (   ).  Live life so others may go, "HOW is that person doing it with all that is going on in the world?  They seem SO happy!"  Well, THIS will be YOUR chance to spread the GOOD NEWS of Jesus!  Tell them YOUR way, and don't worry about trying to say things perfect.......let the spirit of the Lord shine through you!

Depression is defeated in JESUS NAME!!  Now go on and smile and shine!

"And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from his love. Death can't, and life can't. The angels can't, and the demons can't. Our fears for today, our worries about tomorrow, and even the powers of hell can't keep God's love away. Whether we are high above the sky or in the deepest ocean, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord." ( Romans 8:35–39)
